Developing markets in South America and ASEAN with agricultural ICT NEC and Sumitomo Corporation
NEC and Sumitomo Corporation have entered into a strategic partnership agreement to expand global sales of NEC’s agricultural ICT platform “CropScope.”
They will utilize Sumitomo Corporation’s global network to develop markets primarily in South America and ASEAN region.
In addition to processed tomatoes, NEC’s CropScope will focus on other crops, including sugarcane, wheat, soybeans, and corn. Furthermore, AI function has been strengthened to learn past farming data and harvest data, recommend the optimal harvest time and quantity, and add “harvest planning function” to manage harvest plans and results. The aim is to optimize and streamline a series of processes from cultivation to harvesting and processing. Initially, CropScope will be introduced on a trial basis to major sugar companies in Thailand and Brazil.
In countries where agriculture is a key industry, the challenge is to improve the sophistication of production technology and improve the efficiency of farm management. CropScope makes it possible to comprehensively manage everything from cultivation to harvesting and processing.
