Traffic volume survey using 3D-LiDAR Yokohama City and Okaya Electronics
Yokohama City and Okaya Electronics conducted a traffic volume survey using 3D-LiDAR at the Shin-Yokohama Station entrance intersection on Loop Line 2.
Okaya Electronics’ 3D-LiDAR-based people flow observation solution can detect not only people but also cars and conduct traffic surveys.
The traffic survey was conducted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The number of vehicles passing from the Isogo direction was 4,133, and the number of vehicles passing from the Tsurumi direction was 6,156.
Comparing the actual road conditions and the vehicle detection screen, it was found that even the human flow observation system was able to recognize vehicles with high accuracy, and the number of vehicles passing could be measured with almost no difference from the actual number. Although it was possible to distinguish between large and regular vehicles, there was a notable omission in the observation of motorcycles.
